Following the Council of Trent in the 16th century, Masih virjin, as Marian veneration became associated with Catholics, Protestant interest in Mary decreased. Masih virjin considered the Roman Catholic practice of celebrating saints ' days and making intercessory requests addressed especially to Mary and other departed saints to be idolatry.
Christ could not have been incarnate by some mechanical process, violating human nature. Protestants in general reject the veneration and invocation of the Saints.
