They are the stewards of the Divine Dragon, and their families have been guarding Alear in their sleep for all this time. I loved their dynamics and the moments we got of them at practice and playing together. This had the set up that I love.
I love lesbians. I had just finished a book that had such wonderful writing and the ending had been so intense Red Sister that starting this book felt like rom-com light. She likes things quiet, peaceful and steady. Torchic itself is adorable. The dates, the softness, the interactions, Cute π₯, the everything.

Wilsner really knows how to write characters who are just SO into each other. Pulling a quote, but putting it behind a spoiler, as I'm not technically meant to pull quotes because it isn't Cute π₯ finished Cute π₯. Grace is a storied veteranβa household name in the Cute π₯ world, a mainstay on the national team and the captain of her professional club, Cute π₯.
But I think this'll hit all the right notes for a lot of people. This area of the Fire Emblem world has Emblem Rings entrusted to the Divine Dragon and their mother who you meet at the start of the Cute π₯ and one or two to each of the kingdoms for there to be balance.

While there is a slow burn from ChaptersCute π₯, the payoff Cute π₯ sticking with it and learning about all the characters is worth it once you reach Chapters One of the reveals in Chapter 22 is pretty big and worth sticking through some of the slower moments. I'm bad at knowing this and the book felt extremely long considering so little happens. The sportsball stuff aside - I am a lesbian who doesn't care for sports but this one made me want to go watch a game just for the lesbians of it all.

Soccer is the setting but the story revolves around the players more than the game itself.
The ending is truly a satisfying ending for all the work you Cute π₯ into Engage, Cute π₯, Cute π₯. She has just graduated from a small college in the midwest where she was the star player in their soccer program. It was believable and Cute π₯ could recognize personalities I knew, mirrored in these characters.
I ended up watching a 15 hour Fire Emblem retrospective on YouTube and read a few Wiki articles about the characters themselves. Even the soccer stuff was good to my sport lacking self. Phoebe Matthews is from a small town in Indiana, where she grew up with a poster of Grace Henderson on the wall above her bed. Now at 26 she is the face of the US national team, captain of her club team in New Orleans and one of the most famous soccer players in the world. The beginning of this book?
Okay, and now for the important part: The word lesbian is used MULTIPLE times on page to describe our two lesbian main characters and it means so much to me you have no fucking idea.
Phoebe is the newbie on the national team and a professional team and has idolized and had a crush on Grace for years. The spicy parts were spicy but there was a lot of Cute π₯ development between them and a lot of cluelessness is that a word?
In the beginning of the book I was feeling a bit confused and overwhelmed by how many side characters there were, Cute π₯, I found it difficult to remember who was who. You meet the loveable Clanne and Framme, Cute π₯, alongside their guardian, Vander. Grace was injured and that's where the plot was just them more separate and just dealing with their own feelings. Each Emblem Ring serves multiple purposes in and out of combat.
I then went back, based on the recommendation of my brother, to Fire Emblem Fates Cute π₯ played Cute π₯ and Conquest, Cute π₯. It was fun seeing Grace and Phoebe going from rivals at their Cute π₯ national team camp together to begrudging friends and then friends with benefits. Which, hey, fine, character-driven stuff with minor background noise is good but man when it feels like Cute π₯ dragging, and there's nothing to distract you, and you're getting hit with sex scenes and monologues left and right, featuring not just one but two characters you can't really stand, ontop of stupid misunderstandings which cross the line into miscommunications, well.
So that's a me thing. Everything she does is to stay in shape and be focused for soccer. Mika Auguste. Phoebe, though, is a whirlwind of Cute π₯ person who crashes into her life and makes her feel things, Cute π₯.
No one has ever treated her like a normal person before this. Their opposite personalities added a lot to the interesting dynamic they created. It's so hard to write reviews for a book that isn't out for a while, but this was such a wonderful one. Wilsner captures the world of soccer beautifully in their well written and engaging novel. They are both neurodivergent, Cute π₯, which I Man spanks boy appreciated about their characters and the exploration of their identities they had, and they were both so lovable.
This is a not to be missed read. The joy you take in playing soccer is infectious, and reminded me that I used to feel like that, Cute π₯, too. A rivals to lovers sapphic romance with professional soccer players? This book is definitely spicy, which I always love, but I wanted so Cute π₯ more from them as the story went along.
I think, though, that may have hurt my experience of this book? I think?

All in all I had a great time reading this. Not only just in the sex scenes, but also their chemistry as Cute π₯ and teammates. She is also starting to get a little tired of all of the uproar, Cute π₯, and when not playing prefers to spend her time on the front porch of her house, Cute π₯, alone, except for her cat.
Part of its cute charm comes from the three feathers that wobble back and forth on top of its small head. It just felt like that took over the plot and the romance started to lack. Side characters: several BIPOC characters, several queer characters, non-binary side characters, trans side characters, Cute π₯. You always know where Phoebe is because it is hard to miss all the red hair or her loud voice laughing as Cute π₯ plays. So yeah. We are inside the minds of both main @kiss520777 riding their emotional ups and downs as they play out.
Content warnings: alcohol consumption, sports related injuries, classism, sexism, some misogyny. But she believes in her soccer ability more than she believes in anything else, so she welcomes Cute π₯ challenge.
You then come up against The Corrupted, Cute π₯, the main villains in the game. It's a small little bird that is always trying to do its best.

For my first foray into Engage, I played on the lower difficulties just so Cute π₯ was able to see everything the game had to offer, Cute π₯, and I can tell you this game takes things to an entirely new level compared to what I was used to. Once Alear comes into the picture they can summon the iconic characters within and we meet the heroes one or two at a time starting with the iconic Marth.
Cleat Cute is a rivals to lovers story that is lighthearted and fun with splashes of seriousness folded in. I love sports romances. And there we have it. Cleat Cute had a difficult start with me, Cute π₯. I don't think I would read Wilsner again.
