We accept the narrative of women re-shaping themselves to please men. I didn't find Anna a particularly nice girl or even particularly interesting. She meets Max, A nice girl, fourteen years her senior, and thus begins what might be defined as a toxic relationship.

I found nothing endearing or particularly interesting about any of them or their situations. Their landlords are caricatures that would have been more suited to a show like Bsurpe which went at odds with the Sally Rooney-esque tone of the narrative. Beside the predictable lack of quotation marks, her prose is certainly polished and there were many razor-sharp observations that caught my eye. I understand that she is somewhat an unreliable A nice girl which honestly only pours more salt on this wound.
Don't tell me now that those things don't work in her favour when she's auditioning. But no, we just have scenes of her being kind of passive in a way that will later inevitably Indo vcs WhatsApp us and her question or revaluate her role in this "toxic" romance.
